Leda Primary School (PS) is seeking a creative and dedicated Gardener - Handyperson to join our flourishing school. Leda PS is a shared site with an Education Support Unit. The successful applicant will work to provide gardening, grounds and facility management to ensure a safe and clean school environment. They will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean, and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. We are seeking applicants with effective communication skills to help develop and maintain good working relationships with both PS and ESC school staff and external stakeholders concerning school grounds maintenance. The Gardener-Handyperson will be expected to work alongside our cleaners. To be successful in this role you will ideally be confident in performing minor repairs and have a sound knowledge of safe work practices to carry out your duties. Leda PS was established in 1992 and is located in Leda, a suburb of Kwinana, approximately 40 kilometres south of Perth. The school caters for students from Kindergarten to Year Six and the school's population is approximately 430 students. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria): Sound communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in maintaining grounds and gardens, including turf management. Experience in minor servicing of horticultural/gardening equipment and performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks. Knowledge of gardening methods and procedures, including the safe use and storage of gardening equipment, materials and chemicals.
