The Audit and Assurance Branch (AAB) is responsible for the delivery of regulatory audits and other assurance activities to manage biosecurity, imported food, export regulatory risks. AAB takes a whole of department view and has responsibility for functions related to targeted and planned risk based regulatory audits, planned and responsive assurance and control testing activities, and illegal logging assessments. AAB plays a crucial role in the development and implementation of the department's assurance processes, providing confidence that departmental regulatory systems and controls points are managing risks. AAB have approximately 80 staff - auditors, technical experts', operational managers and business services. We operate as a national team with staff located in departmental offices in major capital cities and regional centres. Our professional auditor workforce conducts nationally integrated regulatory audits and other assurance activities to manage the compliance of import and export registered establishments, industry Authorised Officers and entities operating under Approved Arrangements. We conduct audits of: • Biosecurity approved arrangements. • Plant export property accreditations. • Plant export registered establishment audits. • Plant Authorised Officer verifications. • Fish, eggs, and dairy export registered establishments. • Meat processing export registered establishments. • Live animal export approved arrangements and accredited properties. The key duties of the position include The Jobs The Compliance and Enforcement division is seeking to fill several Senior Auditor positions and create a merit pool to fill future vacancies as they may arise at the APS 6 level. The role of the Senior Auditor is to undertake audits across commodities and functions against the relevant criteria, to build strong industry compliance. Senior Auditors operate within the parameters of the Auditor Management Framework and manage, coach and mentor other auditors who operate under this framework. You will provide technical input and support to management and other colleagues as required. The role may include overseas, interstate, or intrastate travel, and all audit competencies and other training requirements will need to be maintained to audit a range of commodities including high risk or complex functions. Please note this recruitment process will be used to fill multiple on-going positions available across all listed locations. YOUR DAYS WILL INVOLVE… The major responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Conduct and assist with internal audits and reviews including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations Prepare and present workpapers compliant with IA methodology Draft internal audit findings with value-adding insights, highlighting any issues, and recommendations to mitigate risk and identify cost savings Support departmental planning, reporting, monitoring of business remediation and other initiatives Build stakeholder relationships across SG Fleet Group, acting as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement Engage to continuous knowledge development regarding sector rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards Essential Previous experience as an internal or external auditor Advanced computer skills on MS Office, account software and databases Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile reports High attention to detail and strong problem solving and analytical skills Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations Strong organisational and prioritisation skills - meets specific deadlines and reports regularly on progress Analyses information and solves problems, demonstrating resourcefulness, perseverance, and accountability Effective communicator both verbally and in writing, demonstrating good listening and probing skills Desirable Familiarity with risk-based audit methodology Knowledge of asset financing / fleet leasing products ACL skills Knowledge of ISO standard requirements (ISO9001, ISO27001, ISO14001, ISO45001) WHAT'S NEXT We'd love to hear from you if you're ready to take on your next challenge at a company that embodies diversity and belonging while also offering work-life balance and career development.
