Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Clinic - Hematology & Oncology JOB SUMMARY The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) assists the physician in the delivery of nursing care and patient education. The LVN is required to interview patients, perform treatments, distribute medications, document medical records and coordinate care for a group of patients The clinic LVN works closely with physicians and patients and must exhibit effective communication skills as well as caring professionalism when dealing with patients and their families. The LVN must also communicate and work well with other physicians, departmental personnel, and health care professionals. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Job Specific Interview patients, obtaining vital signs, such as pulse, blood pressure, temperature, height and weight, and documenting information in the patient’s chart. (EF) Prepare treatment room for patient examinations. (EF Operate EKG and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests; also, coordinate scheduling for patients receiving tests outside the clinic. (EF) Evaluate patients under incident to Pro-Time clinic, monitoring the toxicity titration of prescribed medication, and follows-up appropriately. Reporting to the Program Director, the Hyperbaric Safety Director administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider. This position is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems, as well as for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient. The position is also responsible for the day-to-day maintenance on the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems and serves as the point person for assessment of materials that are appropriate for use in and around hyperbaric chambers. All Healogics employees must perform their job responsibilities according to all Healogics policies, Hospital policies, as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable. Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Performs hyperbaric chamber operator duties. This includes: Preparing, educating and orienting patients about the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. This includes lifting or transferring patients per local policy, getting them ready for treatment administration and answering their questions. Administering the hyperbaric oxygen therapy as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider to the patient. This includes monitoring and controlling the performance of the hyperbaric chamber equipment, as well as monitoring the patient(s)'responses during the session and making proper adjustments to ensure the patient's safety and the safe and effective use of the equipment Making appropriate data entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound care clinic visits, and keeping complete and accurate patient records Operating and maintaining the hyperbaric chamber(s) and other hyperbaric support oxygen systems as required Participating in the safety program, such as conducting safety drills Is responsible for all the hyperbaric equipment/supply, and for ensuring the safe and effective operation and maintenance of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related systems and ancillary components. This includes: Evaluating the equipment and supply used in the chamber(s) to ensure they meet all safety requirements before they are permitted inside the chamber(s) Restricting or removing potentially hazardous supply or equipment items Collaborating with Program Director and Healogics to coordinate and approve all hyperbaric chamber upgrades, modifications, and repairs to the hyperbaric system, - and to ensure they are in compliance with appropriate safety standards Works closely with facility management personnel and department medical personnel to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Also works closely with Medical, Program and Nursing senior management to develop and annually revise department policies and procedures, as well as operation and maintenance documents. Leads the hyperbaric safety program activities and initiatives. As a result, the company is working to provide our differentiated, quality outcomes to as many patients that would benefit through our out-patient clinic partnerships The Clinical Coordinator (CC)/Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities of the Wound Care Center. This may include patient care assessment, patient care planning and implementation, and working on patient care quality improvement. This position works in collaboration with the Program Director and the Medical Director to meet the Center's program objectives and help ensure optimal healing outcomes and patient satisfaction. All clinicians working in a Healogics Center must perform their job responsibilities according to all Healogics policies, Hospital policies, as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable. Essential Functions/Responsibilities: Proficient in all responsibilities related to Case Management. May be required to provide case management to a group of patients providing specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management. Organizes and prioritizes clinical responsibilities, provides clinical oversight to clinical staff, such as Registered Nurses (RNs); Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) or Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs); Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs); Hyperbaric Oxygen Technicians, etc. Collaborates with other health care providers, key hospital personnel, Wound Care Center Providers, Program Director, and Medical Director regarding clinical and patient needs. Consistently looks at current processes and procedures, and identifies and implements areas of improvement, while complying with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HPAA), the Department of Health (DOH), as well as hospital and Healogics requirements Engages in staff development, providing general in services as well as individual instruction and orientation. Provides staff recognition through positive reinforcement and constructive feedback. Collaborates with Program Director in coordination of program objectives, from a budgetary and financial perspective If the program also provides Vein Care services, coordinates vein clinic and assists in providing care as needed after Healogics Vein Clinic training completed Collaborates with Program Director and Medical Director to achieve Wound Care Center quality indicators May function as a Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with Healogics and hospital policies May perform hyperbaric safety director duties after completing the required Healogics hyperbaric safety director training. Following required hyperbaric training, may act as a chamber operator or an emergency chamber operator. Performs patient care based on Center staffing needs. Performs other duties as required. Required Education, Experience and Credentials: Current RN (Registered Nurse) license - to maintain throughout the duration of employment in the position Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) minimum required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. One year experience as an RN required. Two (2) or more years' experience preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Wound care certification preferred.
