Packing Shed Production Supervisor » Lameroo, Southern Mallee - Zerella Fresh is one of Australia’s largest grower and packers of Carrots, Onions and Potatoes supplying Australia’s leading supermarket chains plus independents and exports. We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Packing Shed Production Supervisor to join our team on a full-time permanent basis at our Parilla packing shed site located in the Mallee region of South Australia. Reporting to the Packing Shed Operations Manager, the Packing Shed Production Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that the packing shed production meets both short and long-term profit objectives ensuring that customer orders are packed to specification, in full and on time, without incident or injury. Duties include: Oversee the effective allocation and management of all resources associated with packing shed facility production, ensuring the value of produce is optimised through active quality management and efficient processing. Oversee and manage packing shed operations, in conjunction with the Shed Operations Manager, including daily management of staff and teams. Responsible for ensuring the company’s commitment to, and ongoing compliance with, the Freshcare Food Safety and Quality Standards. Responsible for ensuring all workers who complete tasks relevant to the Freshcare Standard are trained in required food safety standards prior to commencing employment. Coordinate the delivery of harvested produce to the relevant packing shed, providing timely load reports and quality assessments to the grower and harvester. Comprehend all sales orders and schedule work to ensure 100% delivery in full, on time (DIFOT). Maintain oversight and utilisation of cool room stock, including routine stock rotations and daily stocktakes. Ensure optimal washing and packing of produce, identifying risks as they arise and taking effective mitigation actions as required. Manage labour costs, ensuring all employees are working effectively and efficiently. Responsible for the training of employees to include machine operation, product handling, customer and system requirements, and safe work practices. Ensure all quality and safety management requirements are met, including the timely reporting of hazards, near misses and incidents. Undertake condition-based monitoring of equipment and report findings to the maintenance team, perform basic routine maintenance tasks. Complete required reporting tasks related to quality and yield, coordinate and communicate data distribution to other business functions and management. Ensure operational (safety, environment, and community) risks are understood, risk mitigation steps developed and implemented. Develop work schedules and establish facility and production procedures as required. Maintain a safe work environment for all employees. Comply with the company’s Quality and Safety policies and procedures. Requirements: Three - five years prior experience in food packaging or processing. High Risk Work License (essential). Full/unrestricted driver’s license (essential). Prior machine operation experience and basic mechanical aptitude. Product quality experience and exposure to a face-paced 24/7 production environment. Results focused with functional knowledge of industry processes. Knowledge of industry safety and quality systems. Excellent communication and organisational skills, experience working with multicultural teams.
