GETCO2 is seeking a motivated and dynamic Communication and Engagement Officer who will grow with the Centre, contributing to the implementation of Centre strategy and creation of impact. Key responsibilities will include: Strategic Develop an understanding of the Centre's research activities, its key objectives and its market position. Develop and implement annual communication and engagement strategy and activities, in-line with the Centre's strategic plan. Manage the Centre's media calendar including public events, conferences, seminars, other events and special dates. Report on communication activities to the Centre Management Committee. Work with the COO to implement processes for preparing, editing and proofreading marketing and communications material. Provide advice to the Centre on communication and marketing policies and procedures. Facilitate the Centre's internal communication between the administering institution (UQ) and other Nodes of the Centre. Build relationships nationally with Centre researchers, students and professional staff. Work collaboratively with communications staff at School, Institute, Faculty and University levels across all Nodes and ensure that the Centre's communications activities complement those of its university partners. Support the Portfolios - Capacity Building; Equity, Diversity & Inclusion; and Partnerships. Website Act as the Centre's webmaster and oversee the addition and updating of content to the Centre's website. Publications Coordinate content for, and assist in the design, preparation, publication and distribution of a range of print-based and electronic publications, including the Centre's Annual Report, newsletters, flyers and brochures. Support the development of scripts for video and animation production. Media and Public Relations Proactively research, develop and identify content for media releases, news items, researcher and student profiles and web communication as relevant to the Centre. Identify and manage opportunities for the Centre to contribute to public debate, news commentary and similar forums of public influence. Manage the distribution of content via eDMs and social media channels. Events Lead event organisation and planning in collaboration with key stakeholders and external providers. Organise marketing and promotional activities for Centre conferences and other events as required, working collaboratively with all university Nodes and partners. Internal Communications and Training Support the training of Centre researchers (particularly early-career researchers) and students in communicating their science effectively to a broader, non-academic audience. Support the development of internal induction materials and associated onboarding processes. Develop a strong working relationship with colleagues and maintain a high level of knowledge of research and teaching/mentoring activities across the Centre. The ability to work independently and also collaboratively as part of small, busy team. This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 3 years. At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $88,099.39 - $94,512.08, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $103,076.28 - $110,579.13 annually. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement. About You Qualifications and training equivalent to an undergraduate degree in communication, marketing, journalism or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Demonstrated knowledge of website design and construction, preferably using a content management system such as WordPress. Demonstrated knowledge of EDM platforms, such as Mailchimp. Demonstrated knowledge of researching and writing news stories, press releases and other short informative pieces. Familiarity with the techniques of graphic design and print production, such as using Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign and Photoshop). Experience in event planning, organisation and management. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with clients by telephone, email and in person. Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and meet deadlines. Experience in a marketing and communications role in higher education, and experience in preparing and delivering presentations to a range of audiences is desirable but not essential. About you Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Information Technology, or relevant field. A minimum of 3 years of experience in Search Engine Optimisation. Strong understanding of the major search engines and SEO tools, such as Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools, Moz, SEMrush, etc. Proven experience with on-page and off-page SEO tactics. Excellent analytical, organisational, and creative skills. Strong communication skills and proficiency in English. Additional language skills (Mandarin, Malay, etc.) are highly advantageous.
