Data Analyst (Temporary) » The Rocks, Sydney - Position Purpose The role of the Data Analyst sits within the Data Governance team whom are part of the Business Change Management (BCM) division of BNP Paribas. The Data Analyst's primary objective is providing the business with data analytics and solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. The Data Analyst will report directly to the Head of Data Governance and work within a matrix structure, delivering into projects that are managed across all platforms. They communicate with internal and external stakeholders including business stakeholders in operations, product and coverage, Paris and London branches for global projects, standards, vendors and consultants. Key Responsibilities Business & Data Requirements Engage stakeholders to establish a common understanding of the business and data needs Identify and correctly translate business needs into business requirements and data solution requirements Clarify and elicit business requirements, proactively identifying additional requirements not explicitly provided, obtaining missing information and resolving conflicting information among the needs and requirements Ensure data requirements are consistent with the business requirements. Where possible relate deliverables and their acceptance criteria to the requirements Validate data requirements with stakeholders to ensure they are based on an understanding of the stakeholder needs, expectations, constraints, and interfaces Development, maintenance and management of the end-to-end Data Migration Strategies required for new client on boardings Understand different methodologies and differences within incumbent and BNP data Understand the current pain points in Data life cycle Define how data will be mapped and internalized for Ops to meet business goals Lay out how we can complete the desired data activities to achieve our business / clients objectives Describe the changes the organization needs to make to maximize the value of its data activities and outlines plans for how we can make those changes including recruitments Establish a timeline for completing the proposed activities, define milestones and priorities and describe a strategy for moving forward Data Solution Design Gain a firm understanding of the impacts of the solution on People, Process and Technology. Engage stakeholders to ensure a common understanding of (and commitment to) all aspects of the project including objectives, scope, risks, benefits and any element they may be providing Gather all the necessary inputs and review to fully understand the requirements, specifications, applicable standards etc. Document the current (as-is) business process design if this does not already exist Document the to-be business process design and identify how the implementation of the data solution will benefit the business Data Quality and Integrity Liaise with the business to identify data inconsistencies and provide the capability to identify these items in advance Lead and/or undertake data quality activities and initiatives where required. Ensure appropriate tools and techniques are used for data analysis tasks and deliverables. Encourage peer reviews and feedback sessions within the community. Personally review a selection of the deliverables generated by the community. Engage and contribute to a Data analysis community of practice, which includes: Establishing regular community meetings with all data analysts to provide group mentoring, discuss concerns and issues, and implement actions for continuous improvement. Perform reviews of deliverables produced by the community's business analysts and provide feedback and constructive critiques. Formalise standards and consistency around business analysis deliverables and encourage the community's adherence to these standards. What you'll do Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and amplify reporting and analytics capabilities for Gaming customers on the Insights platforms. Provide analytical support across all business units, bolstering Trade and Retail operations. Optimise reporting platforms to foster monetisation and establish enduring revenue channels spanning QLD and NT. Develop and upkeep comprehensive requirements for APIs, data flows, and pipelines, driving enhanced data collection efficiency and promoting innovative insights. Drive revenue growth by expanding into new jurisdictions and introducing new commercialised services. Safeguard the quality and relevance of insights on Gaming reporting platforms, striving for industry-leading standards. What you'll bring Essential qualifications include tertiary education in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related business field. Require previous experience in analytics and reporting roles. Demonstrated proficiency in navigating data warehouses and pipelines across multiple platforms. Proven track record of engaging stakeholders, delivering impactful insights, and instigating change within the gaming and entertainment sectors. Hands-on experience in crafting data science models utilising Python, R, and/or SQL. Proficient in creating visualisations using Tableau and Power BI platforms.
