About the role Join the Komatsu Underground Supply Chain team in a department offering development opportunities. Due to another promotion, we're seeking an experienced Technical Buyer to join the team at Rutherford. Reporting to the Operations Procurement Manager, your primary focus is to manage the procure to pay process with an established vendor base for the supply of non-inventory materials and services for the Rutherford site. You'll work closely with our Planners, Operations, Vendors, and Specialists to provide products on time and at the best price to support the business in achieving their goals of Quality, Reliability, and Customer focus. Key Deliverables Technical sourcing of non-fixed scope requirements. Manage indirect supply base to provide technical parts and services to support the business. Select suppliers of the highest level of performance and quality to match Komatsu business needs. Review purchases and investigate sources of supply to ensure lowest cost supply to Komatsu, and developing alternatives if required. Proactive analysis of purchasing data, lead times, repair lifecycles, opportunities, and risks. Prepare reports and manage a complex level of priorities and demands. Monitor vendor performance to fulfil KPIs. Exceed customer expectations. Requirements Extensive SAP/ARIBA understanding in the Materials Management and Purchasing function. Previous experience in Procurement and/or Supply Chain. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings. Experience with computer-based inventory control systems. Strong customer focus and communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Work collaboratively with the Planner to develop department strategy with clear focuses. Own and deliver the product range from its development through to store execution. Trade Identify opportunities and implement actions derived through trade analysis. Partner with the Planner to develop tactics in response to current trading results including managing an accurate reforecast process. Leverage customer insights and data to optimize sales. Proficiency across all Target Merchandise Systems relevant to the role. What are we looking for? The ideal candidate will have a tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or Retail with at least 4 years’ experience in Buying / Design / Product Development in a specialty retail environment. Demonstrated ability to lead a supplier and sourcing strategy is essential as is experience in implementing merchandise strategy and trading business within season along with solid understanding of the total retail landscape and excellent stakeholder engagement skills. Experience digital/online buying experience as Target accelerates our digital strategy would be highly advantageous.
