Role description: We are currently looking for an experienced Associate Technical Director who will be responsible for the technical growth and continued success of our Flooding discipline. With the boom in high-profile complex infrastructure projects that we are involved in, we are looking to expand in Melbourne as part of the Highways and Structures business unit. Role accountabilities: As part of the Victorian Drainage & Flooding team: Your work will encompass leading teams through the development of hydrological and hydraulic models (flood modelling) and authoring reports or other documentation. You will play a key role on flood modelling projects and collaborating with team members, taking responsibility for own resourcing and potentially resource allocation of others, providing leadership, technical advice and overview as required. Carry out technical reviews of hydrological and hydraulic models and be responsible for the development of others through providing guidance, training, and feedback. Represent your team or technical discipline at external meetings with clients or project stakeholders. Ensure that the delivery of flood modelling tasks, including meeting budget, time-frame and quality targets, exceeds client expectations. Resolve technical flood modelling issues and providing solutions that fall outside the standard codes. Build professional profile and reputation, at an area level within the industry and within Arcadis. Manage technical risk mitigation, safety, and value in design processes. Take an active part in Technical Excellence Groups. Assist in the technical development of staff, coaching and mentoring on technical issues and assisting with chartered institution membership. Establish and consolidate relationships with clients, both during and after project completion. Use technical knowledge to identify and realise new client opportunities. Qualifications & Experience: First and foremost, you share our passion for improving the quality of life. You are a technically capable Flood Modeller with experience in flood mitigation design for civil infrastructure or land development projects and come to us with: Demonstrated leadership and self-management skills; the ability to work autonomously and take ownership of outcomes. Chartership and Victorian Registration. MTM competencies will be highly regarded. Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications. Extensive post-graduate experience, most likely in consulting engineering or a similar local/state government role, with exposure to medium-large and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. Professional experience with TUFLOW (1D, 2D, combined 1D/2D) is an essential criterion. Flood modelling with other hydraulic modelling packages such as HEC-RAS is desirable. Hydrologic analysis using multiple software packages (e.g., RORB, RAFTS, etc.). Experience in GIS software such as MapInfo, QGIS and/or ArcGIS. Knowledge and experience in the application of ARR2019 guidelines. An ability and desire to work on multidisciplinary projects. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Experience in dealing with clients and business development. Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines (Melbourne Water and VicRoads/Austroads standards). Demonstrated experience working as part of a multidisciplinary project team on complex multimillion-dollar projects with responsibility for outcomes. Knowledge and understanding of procurement processes. Ability to provide strategic advice to clients and oversee procurement processes. Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to develop comprehensive reports and submissions. Experience with administering contracts and overseeing the work of contractors, including negotiating variations and managing progress claims. Client focused and have established relation with Water Authorities in Australia. Knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and legislation in the related discipline.
